A Website for Windsor!

An ever growing - and permanent -
source of information of all kinds

Every town needs a central source of information but these tend to be centralised over here for this sort of information, and centralised over there for that sort of information, even if the information exists at all! In other words there is much running around, or telephoning or letter writing required to find out what you want to know. The Internet can change all that. By centralising the information at one point, and by using the Internet's powerful ability to link with other information areas, anyone, anywhere can access everything they want to know from one computer screen.

Hence ThamesWeb Windsor! An ever growing source of information 24 hours a day about Windsor.

Whilst it will take us some time to include all the stories and information that we want to include, we hope you will like the start we have made and even become a contributor in whatever area that interests you. How about Local Events? Perhaps Stories from the Past. Contribute some reminiscences about the town that you think should be recorded permanently. There are very many subject areas for which we would welcome News and Views - Sport maybe!

We particularly welcome photographs that relate to the History and Development of the town. We have already featured the Floods of 1947, The Great Freeze of 1963 and many other subjects and significant events relating to our town. Do please have a scout around and see what you can find.

Remember, unlike books and newspapers, the stories we feature will be permanently available to everyone, we hope, for ever. Equally, the printed word is 'cast in stone', so to speak, so mistakes cannot be rectified. But with ThamesWeb Windsor, if you spot a mistake or know of details that have changed, we can change it too, so accuracy should always be very high!

In short, our plan is that over the years the site will grow into a major source of reference and information about Windsor. We hope you find it of value.

We have prepared additional articles about our plans in our business section.
