Car Hire

Windsor is just 15 minutes from Heathrow by car, so you may prefer to pick up your auto rental on arrival. The major car rental companies are all represented at Heathrow and Gatwick (45 minutes from Windsor).

Car Parking

 There are a number of parking areas around Windsor, together with short term on-street parking upon payment of a fee at the nearby (black) ticket machines. The most convenient car park for the Castle and shops is King Edward Court Car Park at the end of Arthur Road, to the west of Windsor town centre. For full details see Parking in Windsor.

Getting to Windsor Races

There is an attractive ride by boat from downstream of Windsor Bridge direct to the race course on race days and evenings, very close to the Waterloo line station at Windsor and Eton Riverside. It links with incoming trains.
Those racegoers arriving at the Central Station can walk down the hill to the river (5 minutes) for the same service. Walk up the hill out of the station, turn left and walk down past Curfew Tower to Windsor Bridge.
The alternative is a taxi (taxi rank adjacent to the castle walls in Thames Street, opposite the Central Station) or take a pleasant 15-20 minute walk along the river, upstream, in the direction of Maidenhead.
