The Duke of Edinburgh,
Woodside, is to be found off the main road from Windsor to Ascot
Racecourse, to the west of the Great Park, and makes a makes
an ideal rendezvous with your friends or business associates
and colleagues or as a stopping off point following a good long
walk through the Park and especially if you are heading to or
from the Royal Ascot Races!
The Woodside area has been very much involved in
forestry and other country pursuits for centuries and was chosen
by Queen Anne in 1711 as the site for the new racecource just
up the road on Ascot Heath. The horse racing tradition has been
maintained ever since under royal patronage.
The Duke of
Edinburgh Public House Bar and Restaurant have been thoughtfully
renovated and decorated in keeping with English Pub tradition.
The restaurant is particularly highly regarded. Chef
Brian Syme takes great pride in his menus and enjoys the opportunity
to prepare unusual specialities, particularly during Royal Ascot
Week when parties of racegoers make for his restaurant, either
before, for a Grand Breakfast, or after a great day's racing,
for a meal and refreshments before their journey home. Race going
parties are particularly welcome and are guaranteed a high standard
of catering.
We suggest that you telephone for their full menu
as they change a number of the menu items on an almost daily
basis.
Thamesweb heartily recommends that you include the
Duke of Edinburgh when making your plans for a grand day out.
